Workshop on Proper management of industrial waste

20.03.2013 - Ljubljana

On 20.3.2013 was carried out workshop at Slovenian Chamber of Commerce with the topic Proper management of industrial waste: burden, responsibility and opportunity.

Workshop visited over 50 participants from government administration, municipalities, investors and construction companies.

There will be repetitions of the workshop with the intention to inform interested public how to approach to demolition of buildings. Workshop will cover steps from legislation requirements, possibilities of recycling and reuse of recycled material.

Waste material such as concrete, bricks, metal, plaster boards, isolating materials and wood, gathered during construction, maintenance and demolition of buildings, present important stream of waste.

Many of these waste materials end on illegal dumping sites where they burden nature, soil, water and human health. With the right approach, preparation for and selective demolition we can gather selected industrial waste that can be reused or processed.

During the workshop was highlighted that investors are not aware enough that they are responsible with management of their waste. Great role in waste management have project developers. They need to include already in project documentation proper management with soil excavation, separate storage of industrial waste, possibility of reuse or recycling on site or transfer to official waste sites.
